The unit works very well so far its hasn't been a year yet, first unit I received stopped working after a while though then I called tech they sent me a second one.Having multiple laptops and desktops used to be a pain to use but this device makes my life easier. Whether I want to use all three monitors for one computer or have different computers on each screen this device makes that possible. Read the instructions to learn how to use the hotkeys. The only thing I would want done differently is to have the ability to lock the sound on the remote rather than using the physical unit to do so. Other than that, this thing is terrific.I'm an engineer & gamer. I work from home 1/2 of the time while the other 1/2 using a PC for Gaming and hobbies. This switch offered the best connectivity to keep DP support for my two 144hz monitors for gaming and allowing me dual monitor support for my work laptop.I highly advise reading this companies recommendations on adapters as they make the difference between things working and not working. Point in case, buying their DP to DVI active adapter recommendation was the difference between a monitor not working at all (black screen) and fully functional 144hz. It also allows for the eventual DP monitor upgrade I'm looking for in the future.Wish it came with USB 3.0 & the tech to stop the screens from re-arranging themselves but this was the best product on the market at the time of purchase. I would buy another unit once they integrate those two features, especially since I can link the old one for eventual triple monitor 144hz refresh.Good stuff, happy with purchase. I even like the remote.First, I'm a computer tech and a software engineer. I've got my A+, Net+, Sec+ and a whole slew of others (computer tech) in addition to being a software engineer. So, my stance is coming from a user who does a LOT of computer stuff; not a new user who doesn't know the first thing about troubleshooting. So, I purchased 2 of these to handle a quad monitor setup. While these devices do what I need them to do; when you are using 2 devices; some of the features they advertise go out the window. Here are my issues:A. You cannot use mode 3 without issues; you can use mode 3 but it only works on half the devices (the devices that are plugged into the unit that have the keyboard/mouse); the other half (the second unit); you can swap them to different monitors but you can't actually provide input to them without the need to move your keyboard/mouse to the second device or simply by having a second keyboard/mouse in the other device (I haven't tried this yet but I'm assuming that's what I'd have to do).B. The keyboard/mouse port, while windows worked fine with this, linux, not so much; I can't use the keyboard/mouse input on the device (which allows me to use the scroll lock + scroll lock + 1/2/3/4); my keyboard/mouse just didn't pass through; so it's either move the inputs back and fourth between the usb slots or have a second keyboard/mouse hooked up into the other spots to swap back and fourth between machines. Well the secondary part of this is that the devices can lose sync (either randomly or because you tried to use mode 3) and I'm told I have to hit scroll lock + scroll lock + 1/2/3/4 to get these to sync back up again but you can only send those signals when the keyboard is in the keyboard slot, if you have it plugged into one of the other usb slots then the kvm won't see you pressing anything ... I can't do that every time I need to swap machines.C. if I shut down the KVM (using the power switch) and turn it back on; I can no longer see the monitors plugged in as they are; I can only seem some generic monitor which screws up the screen settings and available modes; I have to unplug my monitors and re-plug them back in (which when forces me to have to re-do my monitors as the OS removes them and updates the displays). So, if I have to make an adjustment and shut these off for some reason; I have to walk through every PC and unplug whichever monitors aren't doing what they should be doing; I've had to do this so many times I had to add cord identification numbers to the cords so I could figure out which one needed unplugging.D. The cords they provide you with are only like 3 feet in length; so unless you have a super tight close together setup; this doesn't work. I had to buy an additional almost $300 in cords because the ones provided weren't long enough to really do anything.E. You'd think with 2 devices that you could use the provided remote control to control the separate inputs (for mode switching). Nope; one remote control rules them all. But with the fact that mode 3 doesn't work on the secondary unit; this is kind of a moot point.I'll add more as I find issues. But; with these issues, these devices are not worth the money; I would cap these out at maybe $150 each; maybe $200. If they could conquer the things I mentioned above; it would make it more worth the price (minus the unwanted cables) ... but I'd have to buy a newer model for that (if they ever bother) and i'm highly unlikely to do so. They should remove the cables and give you an options (with cables or without cables) as 3 feet may or may not work for you; for me, they did not. I would have loved a cheaper option to leave the unnecessary cables behind as of now.I like that I can connect up to four PCs and share my speaks, webcam,, mic, keyboard, and mouse with those machines. I even have a USB hub connected. The only problem I have experienced is with sound. I was able to get sound through the switch to my desktop, but it wouldn't play through my work laptop docking station, so I have to plug sound directly into my USB of the laptop. It's the only uncooperative component. The price is the other tough part. Cry once and move on. Great that it supports display port and 4k also. You must use the proprietary USB connector cable to get the USB components to work, but no issues there. Great overall product.I've been shopping for the ideal KVM for several weeks - leaning toward the cheaper options - and have been utterly disappointed. I finally decided to spend more money, and found exactly what I need in this little gem. Yeah, it's expensive, but it does exactly what you want it to do all day, every day.Others I've tried sometimes flake out. One would fail to connect with one or more of my laptops intermittently, forcing me to restart them. Others would "ding dong" on all the computers every time you switched because the attached USB devices would actually disconnect from the inactive computer, and reconnect to the active one. Not with this one.The EDID emulation is on point. With four computers using two monitors, everything is where you left it on your screen when you switch to another machine and come back. From each computer's perspective, all the peripherals you have attached to the KVM stay attached to the computer even when it's not active, so no more ding dongs. You can easily use one computer on one monitor while monitoring another computer on the second monitor - and you can quickly switch the peripherals and control between those two computers with a single button press. There are multiple keyboard shortcuts (some with multiple options) that do everything you need to do.In short, it's a great feature set and everything just... works. I've only been using it for a few days, but I've really put it through its paces. Should anything change, I'll definitely be back to tone down my enthusiasm. For now, it's a solid five-star product that does *exactly* what I need it to do, reliably.
